Destination Star Trek here we come!

I have some super exciting news, Matt and I are heading to Birmingham to attend the 50th anniversary destination Star Trek. I have for some reason put off attending the previous ones in London and I have always been meet with extreme regret. This year it was announced it would be on my actual birthday and William Shatner and Jonathan Frakes won me over and we booked tickets.

I am so excited we have booked a hotel for the 7th and the 8th October so we will travel up the on the 7th and attend the con on the 8th!

I can't wait to have a nice weekend away with Matt and meeting Mr Shatner on my birthday is pretty flipping epic! I am also debating if I would like to cosplay this year, or at least get myself a Star Fleet uniform? I'm not sure I guess I might have a think nearer the time.

On the subject of conventions EM Con is fast approaching and EM Con have announced another Stargate Atlantis guest who has been added to the group photoshoot, which I AM super excited for. I really adore David Nykl's character Dr. Radek Zelenka so I was realy excited to see this announcement.

This is my first time traveling for conventions. I usually stick to London and I did go down to Brighton last year, but 2016 sees us travel to Nottingham and Birmingham.

My favourite London Film and Comic Con, so far hasn't hooked me in with any guests but we still we have lots of time before I need to worry as that one is in July. There is also another one in Brighton which I think I will attend regardless as who can say no to an excuse to go to Brighton on a summer days in June, seaside and geekery? Huh? Crazy people thats who!

Is anyone looking forward to any cons this year or planning on attending any?
Any cosplay plans then let me know I love seeing where people go and what they dress up as!!

10 Year Anniversary!

Matt and I don’t usually do anything or celebrate anniversaries but this year is a real mile stone.
10 years together today.

We first started dating on his birthday so it usually gets missed with birthday celebrations, but this year feels more special to me and we plan on going to Video Games Live and for dinner next week as an anniversary/birthday celebration.

We meet when we were 17 in college, I was a wee Media student and Matt was a Photography student. We meet through friends and I tagged along on a trip with the photography students which I spent the whole day hanging around with Matt. I was really swept away by his humor and he oozed this cool laid back character. We started messaging, sneaking out at night to just walk around and chat and then I stayed at his house and never left so we have lived together for those 10 years and been inseparable ever since.

I still remember our first kiss and the first time he told me he loved me like it was yesterday. We have been through education together, moved out together and done everything together since the day we meet. We have had troubled periods and managed to work through but other than these very rare occasions (which I’m pretty sure every couple suffers) we gel together perfectly.

We have so much in common and are both as weird and geeky as each other. It feels like I have known him for a life time yet it doesn’t feel like it’s been 10 years as it has gone so fast. I am so excited as I feel last year we started on a whole new journey together and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us!

I can’t see my life without him and all my future plans are of us as a team. One day I hope to call myself Mrs Crosse and wear a ring proudly on my finger and maybe even a mini us running around one day.

I feel very lucky to have someone who is as kind, loving and as supportive as him. He is talented, smart and funny and everything I could wish for in a partner. He embraces my quirks and loves me who I am and as do I to him.

Let’s hope to another 10 years of happiness and support from each other!

So Happy Birthday Matt and Happy Anniversary, you've made the last 10 years the best I could ever wish for!

March POP! in a box!

How on EARTH are we already in March. I swear I was waving goodbye to the summer and looking forward to the Christmas build up.

But here we are going heading into spring 2016... but not only is it Spring but a new month means NEW POP! in a box! This morning I woke up to a knock at the door and the postman handed me my March POP!

I am really enjoying getting these every month, and upon opening it I couldn't see it was indeed Star Wars related and when I took it out I was excited to see I had gotten:

Han Solo! Woohoo! I am really happy with this one as the most recent Star Wars really turned me round and into a fan. Before then I had been very much a trekkie and no interest in Star Wars but now I realised I had been very much missing out all these years!

So I am very happy to get an older Han Solo. I can't wait to get even more and add to my Star Wars collection!

The box was in ok condition again, no real damage to it. Han is great quality and is painted well I can't see any defects on him. He is a bobble head which I do kind of find bizarre how some are and some aren't, I have to say I prefer when they aren't and have regular heads.

I am happy again with what I got and I can't wait for Aprils surprise :D

2016 plans!

I haven’t been blogging this past week! Things have been really quiet for myself the last couple of weeks. I am excited though as spring approaches we have some nice plan ahead of ourselves soon!
In the New Year I made a few resolutions again one including:
Making sure I enjoy my free time and get out and do more
This year I haven't done much, and my social life has been next to non due to moving and saving. Next year I want to make sure I get out more. Enjoy trips to London and go to see some live shows have some lovely date days and nights with Matt as well as some more wild nights out with friends!
Matt and I have some time booked off in March to celebrate his birthday, although we have no plans I think some time off and just time to relax will be nice!

However on the 20th March we are off to see Video Games live which I am super excited about. I think we will head up there and have some dinner. It is also our 10th Year anniversary together on Matt birthday (14th March) so it’s a night out to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary. It is a good excuse to get dressed up nicely and head up to town for dinner and a show.

Then in April we are seeing Macklemore live, I booked tickets a few nights ago on a whim and I am SO EXCITED. I cannot wait to go. They are seated tickets but I don’t mind and then just 2 days later on the 29th April we have the day booked off and we are off to Nottingham for the bank holiday weekend to stay with Laura and Sammi and Matt and I will be attending EM Con and I have a joint photo shoot with some of the Stargate Atlantis cast.

I started this year without a single plan and I am excited to say that I actually have some bits to look forward to now! The summer I plan on attending a few conventions and the NFL again in October which should be fun.

Hopefully we will make further plans during the year I think I am making a good start on my plan to do more this year. I hope we can attend a few more live shows be that music or theater or conventions. Fingers crossed for a beautiful summer and days down at the seaside or just wondering around in the sunshine.

Has anyone made any plans for the rest of the year yet?

February POP! in a box!

So just to recap in case you have missed my previous review or you have no idea what POP! in a box is:
A monthly subscription where you receive POP! Funkos to your door. The great thing about this is you will never get something that you do not want. You update your list of what you currently own and thumbs up and thumbs down all the POPS! you like and dislike. You can save 20% when you sign up!
I am now in procession of Febrary's POP! Funko and I got DRUM ROLL PLEASE......

MICHONNE from the walking dead.

The box was in much better condition this time with no visible damage and also arrived quicker than January's one. I am really pleased with her, and although I think I would of preferred one of her not in a police uniform I am still happy.

I really like her hair the detailing is nice and the paint is neatly done too. My only complaint is that she doesn't stand up very well at all and doesn't come with a stand! Luckily I can prop her up against a box.

I am glad to add to my walking dead collection as I only had two and Michonne is one of my favoruite characters so I am super happy to have her!

Have you had any February POP!s? If so let me know what ones!

New Sofa excitements!

When we moved into our flat last year we bought pretty much everything second hand, had some bits given to us or bought bits from Matt's room with us. The only new piece of furniture we bought was the dinning room table. We also had some hand me down bits including our sofa. My friend Lisa gave it to us and we were really grateful to have a quality leather sofa.

It has done us well, but over Christmas with lots of sofa lounging it became apparent that it was too small for the both of us. We aren't particularly small people and with Matt being almost 6ft6" he takes up much more room than the average person. We did buy some footstools to go with it to get more room, but they are more like bean bags and aren't great to sit on and also have gone quite saggy so aren't brilliant anymore for putting your feet up.

I think generally its beginning to get a little annoying while we eat or are on the laptop to constantly bashing elbows and as much as I love cuddling up in the evening to watch a film, there are times when I want my own space. I also get the impression Matt isn't so fond of my using him as a foot rest every evening too haha!

We know the flat is too small for a second sofa or chair so I've been thinking for a while perhaps to get a bigger sofa.

So on Saturday we went over to Croydon to look at sofas. We needed a 3 seater with narrow arms so it takes up the least amount of room but with the most seating area. It was a tricky to find ones that were right size and that we liked, but we walked into Sofa World and fell in love straight away with this Collage Graceland Silver Mix Sofa!

It is the exact size in width that we needed and was soft but firm to sit on. The little coloured buttons and cushions really added a pop of colour and personality to the sofa while the colours were still nice and neutral. We also decided to go for the footstool that comes with storage inside too to add more seating in the living room or make more sofa space for us when it is just the two of us!

We went and looked in all the sofa shops around but we couldn't find ones we liked as much as this one or ones that were the right size! After a little chat about it and an Ikea hot dog later we went and bought it with the matching footstool!

Having items that have a little bit of quirkiness to them has always been important to us and this is a perfect balance of quirk and sensible!

I was pretty excited to find out that we didn't even have to wait long for it to arrive and we could have it on Wednesday, so a nice excuse to get a day off of work!

It arrived and after a slight panic  it wouldn't fit through the doors we had it inside within an hour and I was exceptionally pleased with it!

I am so happy with how it fits into the flat. It is the perfect size and I am really pleased it doesn't over whelm the front room! It also fits in perfectly along the wall and there is enough room for the sofa and the table!

Even though it is much larger than the previous sofa I think because of the light colours it actually makes the room feel more airy!

So far we have really been enjoying having more room to stretch out and relax. We have enough room now to have our own space and when we want to lots of room to snuggle up!

I really couldn't be happy with this sofa and footstool and so far my experience with Sofa Works has been great!

Heres to happy sitting to all!

New converse glasses, SHINY!

So while in town a few weekends ago I popped into the Spec Savers to have a wee browse. I came across quite a few frames that I fell in love with and as I have found it so difficult in the past to find pairs I like it got me thinking maybe it would be nice to have another pair or two to change between.

As my current ones are approaching 3 years old now I didn't think it was unreasonable to consider a new pair. I needed my eyes testing before anyone would give me new ones anyway and I thought, i'll do that I doubt much will have changed and I'll get another pair in a few months.

However my prescription had changed quite a bit (almost doubled ahhhh) and I need much stronger lenses much to my dismay. That blew my plan, so I pushed forward buying new ones and I took advantage of Spec Savers buy one get one free and got myself a regular pair which I ADORE and a new pair of sunglasses that are a little more tougher than my current ones.

I absolutely adore the shape of these as they are slightly cat eyed and I love the little bit of sandy colour on the edges. I really think this softens the black and makes it less harsh on my paler skin tone. I think they work really well with my hair colour too. The arms are a nice touch with the animal stripes. They have a spring hinge too which is preferable as I am rather heavy handed.

I much prefer the big frames now, I like not having the edge of the frames in my sight all the time although a tad annoying for finger prints.

I am super happy with the sun glasses also, they are lovely and over sized with a retro shape. They are quite plain and neutral with just a bit of colour and character for the summer which I really like as they will go with lots of outfits. The arms are also on hinges and are thicker and sturdy which I really like as I snapped my sunnies last year as the arms are so thin and weak.

It is taking a wile to get used to the strong lenses especially as they are both the same in each eye now (I had one weaker eye) but I am really happy with my choices! Now we just need some sunshine so I can get the sunnies out!
