Super low key X-Men filled bank holiday.

Yumi Dino Dress
Our May bank holidays are over and done with. Done and dusted for another year. I myself didn’t get up to much except making the most out of mine and Matt’s Cineworld cards. Saturday I convinced Matthew to see X-Men apocalypse again and then Sunday I spent the day in my Pyjamas ignoring the house work and refuse to leave the house.

Monday however we had tickets to see Warcraft in 4DX, so I suggested to Matt we went early and watched X-Men again and then had dinner out before watching Warcraft. To my surprise he agreed so we headed in early afternoon, did a tad bit of window shopping and then went and watched X-Men again. If you have gotten the theme here I am a BIG X-Men fan and an even bigger Cherik fan. I ship them hard; surely it’s obvious to all how many gay feels they have for each other??

Anyway I chucked on my dinosaur dress and we went and enjoyed the day out the house and we had a VERY nice Pizza Hut meal. Afterwards when we were well fed we let our food go down by sitting in the car for an hour and headed in to see Warcraft.

This is where it gets a little disappointing, after the trailers the screen went dark. 40 minutes later we were informed that the projector wasn’t working and we had to get a refund. I won’t lie I was pretty disappointed but we did get a refund and 2 new tickets to use. Hopefully we can go next Saturday!

I did a little online shopping and ordered myself a rather fetching X-Men cardigan (are you getting a general theme of my weekend?) and Matt got himself a new game.

Isn't it just super snazzy!
OH and I ended up buying tickets for LFCC again even though I said I wouldn’t go. Oops. Other than that I really enjoyed a super low key film filled weekend! Next weekend we are heading down to Brighton Comic Con which I am looking forward to. I am sad the bank holiday is over and we are back at work in the rain and drizzly weather but fingers crossed for a sunny weekend to come!

Fun in Nottingham

Back near the beginning of the year Laura and I arranged for myself and Matt to go up to Nottingham again and spend a weekend with her and Sammi. Originally we were looking at August but I saw that EM Con was on at the end of April over the May bank holiday, so we decided to take advantage of that.

We booked Friday off so we could head up nice and early and get an extra day together. That didn't quite go to plan.

We did get up nice and early and had a Toby Carvy buffet breakfast and was ready almost bang on 11am like I had planned. What I didn't think about was that everyone would be using the M1 and M25 to travel on the bank holiday. What should of been just under a 3 hour drive turned into 5 hours. FIVE whole hours, it was rather long and frustrating. We did make it though and got to spend the afternoon with Laura and Sammi and all evening.

We ordered pizza and Laura unwrapped her birthday gifts and we spent the evening catching up. Matt and I needed to be at the arena fairly early on Saturday so we went to bed earlyish ready for the weekend ahead!

Saturday was awesome and you can read about that here!

Then Sunday we had a lay in did a bit of shopping around Nottingham and as always when we are in Nottingham we headed over to Annie's Burger Shack! I had the Delta burger which I believe I have had before. It was pretty spicy but delicious.

Matt and I at Annie's
We then headed home and spent the evening eating desserts, chatting and drinking wine which was really lovely.

Sammi hasn't been that well so we headed over for another breakfast buffet on Monday and she went home while myself, Laura and Matt went to have a look around Wollaton Hall and Park. Unfortunately the weather was pretty naff, it was bitterly cold and threatening to rain. We did however have a look around the house and the park and snapped a few photos! (warning heavy image post below!)

We only stayed a while because of the weather, which is so annoying as we are having a beautiful heat wave at the moment, less than a week after we went! BOO! I really enjoyed looking around and the place was really beautiful! I really want to go back there when the weather is nicer!

Then we popped to Derby to do a bit more shopping as there wasn't much to do with the weather which started to tip in down with rain moments after we left the hall. After the shopping we headed back to Laura's spent a while chatting and then early evening we headed home.

I really didn't want to leave, I have NO IDEA where the weekend went but I had an absolutely fabulous time. Whenever we spend time with Laura and Sammi, I  remember how much I miss her and I wish we lived closer. What I wouldn't give to just call her and say 'HEY LOR I'M COMING OVER WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE AND A MOVIE SEE YOU IN 5!'

But alas she lives over 100 miles away so I will just have to treasure the moments I get to spend with her and Sammi.

My bank holiday weekend was great though and I can't wait for the next one (lets hope for some sunshine!)

Easter and the Bank Holiday weekend.

I finished work on Thursday, dragged my bum to the gym and as I settled down on the sofa I knew there were 4 glorious days ahead of me!

I woke up on Friday and just pottered most the morning. The Sun was beautiful and it was actually really warm outside. I watched 'The Land Before Time' which bought back lots of happy memories of watching it on Bank Holidays as kids.

I also decided to do some themed nails as I never really do them anymore, but as I have the 4 days off I decided to spend the morning doing them.

I am really pleased with how they came out..... they actually came out much better than I expected which is a first as it is usually the other way round.

I couldn't pick what colours to do so I just did all of them in an Easter bunting type fashion. The most shocking thing is both hands actually look pretty darn good, even if I do say so myself!

I then headed to the pub with my sister, it was a huge let down. Had to pay to park, the garden was shut due to repainting and the service was awful. So we headed over to Reigate park and had a lovely time eating ice creams and just sitting in the sunshine.

You really can't beat just sitting in a park on a sunny Bank Holiday.

We then saw 'Zootropolis' on Friday evening and that was FAB! I really really enjoyed that. It is a really good film with a strong message of acceptance and racism which is really needed at the moment!

Saturday was a pretty chilled, did lots of boring cleaning related things and I watched Hairspray for the first time and I enjoyed that a lot. It was much better than I thought, again another film tackling racism! I thought it was just about a larger girl wanting to become famous but I was wrong there.

Then Easter morning arrived and Matt and I got ready and headed to my Grandma's. I picked a little green bird dress as I thought it was really cute and 'springy' to brighten up a rather drizzly bank holiday.. Apparently 1 day of sunshine was enough!

Dinner was lovely as usual my Grandma really does make the nicest food! I know everyone probably says that but I truly believe mine does haha! We spent some time vegging out after eating all the food and chocolate and Matt and I headed home to get ready to go and see the new Batman vs Superman.

I have to say I did enjoy the film even though I think the title was misleading and should of just bee Batman and Superman, and the first half of the movie was kid of pointless. However overall I enjoyed it!

And then in the blink of an eye Monday rolled round and we didn't do much except have lunch out and then headed into Crawley. On a spur of the moment type thing Matt talked me into buying the fabric I need for my Cosplay I want to do in the summer!

If it isn't obvious it will be a star fleet dress a science officer. I want to do a female Spock and I am really excited to make this! I've never Cosplayed before but I've always wanted to and I think this will end up being really cool. I wont lie I opened the pattern and went HOLY SHIT WHAT DO I DO? So I have arranged to go to my Aunt's so she can help me because I am worried I will screw it up! But fingers crossed it will turn out good!

The bank holiday was very nice even though it seemed to disappear much quicker than I would of liked. I felt well rested and had a lovely time off!

I hope your Easter was a nice one and you did some nice bits too!

Last bank holiday weekend of 2014 done and dusted

This weekend was nice in some ways and not so nice in other ways. We had 4 whole days off which was pretty nice. I’ve tried to space my holidays well this year. A week off at the end of June and a week off at the end of September, and I just found out today that Matt has had his Christmas holiday approved. I’m so excited about that as from the 19th December I will be off until the 2nd January as long as my holiday is approved but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be! That is 13 whole days off in a row (only 6 being holiday days so yay) I am so crazy over Christmas I seriously cannot wait! I really feel like this year will be a really good one!

I was feeling pretty meh about the summer coming to an end as I was rather enjoying it so! But now we have had about two weeks of cooler weather and about a years’ worth of rain in the last 2 days I think that I am feeling a little more accepting of the autumn that is fast approaching (only 4 more days left until it’s officially here). Slowly the jumpers and warmer clothes are creeping into the shops and I couldn’t help myself but try a few pieces on! Both are from Debenhams (blue one is Red Herring and the Grey one is H! by Henry Holland)

So I am a little more excited about the seasons changing although not so much about this wet weather we have had. I got this rain mac 2 weeks ago after a very long painful relationship with it haha! I ordered it back in the spring/summer and it came and was too big so I sent it back and never ordered a replacement as I was racked with guilt (moneywise). I then reordered two sizes the 12 fitted better but the sleeves were too sort and then I decided £35 was just way too much for it and both went back. Then they slashed the price to £17! I spent all morning torn whether to order it AGAIN! I ended up ordering 3 macs all in the sale and annoyingly enough I kept the pink one I had been debating with for soo long ahah! I’m terrible sometimes at make a decision, I think it is the fact we are saving all our money at the moment I didn’t want to waste it!

But here it is in all its glory and it is great, it is actually completely water proof and it’s darn comfortable, I just wish it was more portable, but then I would most likely lose the water proofness of it that way!

So anyhow, I am trying to save up hence why the jumpers are just on my wish list at the moment. I would like to have a few for winter so we shall see I guess. I did pick up 3 cardigans in Forever 21 the other day (I returned the asda ones in previous post) as the the forever21 ones were much nicer and I got 3 for less than the price of two!

I also thought I’d mention the fact that I am getting rather into Anime at the moment! We watched Toradora a few weeks ago and I fell in love. We are watching Clannad now and I also have Black Butler going along side that too! There have been a few more Matt has got me to watch but I can’t remember what they are called but I enjoyed those too. Tonight I plan to get in make dinner (as I am starving marvin) and watch back to back Clannad. We gave in last night and ordered pizza hut. To be honest way too much pizza hut and I ended up with a pretty lame stomach ache. I’m not used to eating that much food especially when it is that greasy too lol. So chicken, mash and some veg I think my body will be appreciated of it! All this Anime watching is getting me even more excited about MCM now at the end of October!

It's getting sooo cool outside!

Well summer has left us! I am hoping it will be back and will grace us with its warmth again for maybe a couple more weeks. ‘Arctic winds will plunge parts of Britain into the coldest spell of August weather for almost a century - just in time for the late summer Bank Holiday.’

It has been a bit of a shock to go from 20°c+ to about 12°c. There is a really bitter cold feeling in the air! I have struggled all week to get out of bed as I have been FREEZING and been wondering around wrapped up in a blanket refusing to get out of it for those few moments where you are all exposed to the world. I suppose I should suck it up because it will just get colder from here on in as August is fast coming to an end, so autumn will soon be on our door steps.

With this sudden chill in the air it got me thinking about some warmer clothes. This summer I have been happy in a t-shirt and a skirt or shorts for my more casual wear. I love my dresses the most but I like to have a selection of casual clothes, not much fun putting on a fancy dress to sit in bed all day, or go to Tesco..and hoodys are the best for evenings at the cinema!

My style over the last year has changed a fair amount. I wanted to wear jumpers and what not this year but to be honest I can’t find any I suit, and not to mention I feel quite uncomfortable in them! :(
So I think this winter I will stick to my new hoody (that fits well rather than a big cover up) and I also invested in some cardigans for chucking over my t-shirts!

I actually came up with a pretty cute school girl look with some cardigans!

I think they are pretty cute little outfits that will look nice before the winter actually comes around. Means I don’t have to put my t-shirts away completely till next summer :)

I am a bit strange with clothes. It’s a bit of a control thing I like to have everything planned and ready to go. I like to know exactly what I am going to wear through summer or winter or whatever season and I also like to have a style kind of and stick to that. Hence why I end up with same clothes in lots of different colours!

But as I said above I do hope we see a few more warmer weeks before autumn comes completely, hopefully a few more shorts and sandals days!

I’m getting excited about heading off to France soon. Just wish I had a better idea of the weather as that would be very helpful as I LOVE TO PACK and plan to pack but at the moment it is hard to plan as I have no idea what the weather will do! I’m hoping for cool dry days maybe 15°c to 20°c that would be spot on thank you very much!

I have also started a birthday list bwahah, currently it involves a coat from my Mum and Dad (yes I have a coat problem, but I SWEAR this will be the only one I get this year and I will sell at least one old one!) and some shoes from my sister. I know it’s a bit early but the shoes were in the sale and I couldn’t afford them as I am saving saving saving and the coat was just sooo lovely I couldn’t leave it behind heh he!

This week is a short week and so is next week as I took Friday off and it is bank holiday Monday too. So two 4 day weeks and a 4 day weekend yay! Let’s hope today goes quickly and it is Thursday evening before I know it!

I shall be an Illustrator

I haven’t posted in a few weeks. This is bad of me. Although I have been busy in a productive way!

So I attended MCM expo almost two weeks ago now. It was an insanely busy day. Really too busy at points. We queued for TWO hours to get a ticket. The hall was completely packed out smelt pretty iffy too haha! We had a look around and I really wanted to get a game signed for Matt. Turned out he wasn’t around until later and all the tickets had gone. Boo. They also has GIANT MINIONS! I wanted to take one home D:

What caught my eye the most though was all the little stands and the illustrator stands. I went to one  Jess Bradley stand and I fell in love with her art. I was feeling super sad because that’s what I really want to do. And then it dawned on me, I could do that I've just been too damn lazy to both and that annoyed me.

So I got home and found an awesome necklace that makes necklaces like the ones I love, it works out so cheap around £2 a necklace and I would like to sell them for £8-£10 a necklace. I would like to do greeting cards and prints and badge and all sorts. It’s quite exciting. So I came up with a plan.
  1. Design and print business cards.
  2. Make 1-3 designs per week MINIMUM.
  3. Update blog everyday on Tumblr.
  4.  Pick 5 designs to get printed onto necklaces.
  5.  Design backing cards to display necklaces.
  6. Attend a craft fair and see how they go and get my work out there!!!

Anyway so far it has gone quite well. I have two designs I am pleased with. They aren't quite finished yet though. It’s only minor touches I need to do to them!

I am actually super motivated and I can’t wait to really get this rolling. SO I really want to be a illustrator of character design and this is what I am going to do I have decided! I will make all the strange weird things in my head come to life, god knows there is enough of it haha!

Matt also got a new job, I’m not sure if I mentioned that in my last post. And I FINALLY after 10months of temping got offered my job. The downside is that I also got offered a job interview for job I really want in Croydon. It’s on Tuesday and I really REALLY want it! It’s for a production designer so the job sounds good its more money and cost of travel would be less than a quarter of what I am paying now. SOO I have everything crossed.

I also started to teach matt to drive, that has been a little scary in places, but he is doing very very well! He just needs a little more confidence I think.

Tonight I am going to get ready in the toilet after work and head down to Burgess Hill, his work are having a leaving dinner for him and I was invited so I’m pretty excited about that! Downside is though I bought my favourite dress with me but you have to wear a vest top under it and I forgot the vest top. Boo.

I don’t have any plans to do much this weekend. I think it will be a weekend of lying in bed watching Dexter (which I am currently re-obsessed with) and doing some design work. I went to see the hangover last week but it was pretty naff and tbh I was pretty pissed off too and hurt about something else it sorta crushed my mood for the weekend. I must NOT go shopping or spend much money as mine and Matt’s pay have gotten a little fucked due to him changing jobs and me changing the way I get paid :/ So staying in bed seems like a great idea. I have to get a top at lunch though as I said above and I’m sooooo fucking tempted to get this really cute little peach dress I saw ages ago! BUT I MUST NOT…. It’s like £20 and I need to save that!

I’ll end with so tales of my bank holiday weekend. I was meant to see my friends on the bank holiday but they blew me out except one and I really didn’t want to sit in a pub all day when the weather was beautiful and I had a rare extra day off. SOOO I called my trusty sister and we went to Brighton. It was lovely! Ate some Mexican food, looked down the laines, and then went to the beach, I also enjoyed a ride on a carousel. It made me dizzy and I was a little sick in my mouth. LOVELY!

Let’s hope the weather picks up as it’s been so beautiful all week and this morning it started to thunder lightening and RAIN, lots of rain again. Thank god for English weather. Yuk.
