Life update and new hair plans!

This week has been much quieter for me than previous weeks. To be honest with you I think that the next few months will be quieter as I am really budgeting again and saving money as my holiday to Singapore is fast approaching. Too quickly if you ask me. The idea of my trip to Destination Star Trek, my credit card I need to pay off, Christmas and then the added pressure of paying for our flights and saving spending money is a little over whelming at the moment. I think I will have to postpone some of this till 2017 but after paying off all my debt last year I find it exceptionally scary that I could easily fall back into that hole!

Hopefully as my brain is wired much better and much more sensibly with money now I hope that I will prevent this from happening. This is a nice flow into my next update topic of my hair. Last March I had to stop bleaching it ( I used to do it at home so it didn’t cost much). I wrote about it briefly here, but to sum up I had finally got to the point where I had almost white hair, hair I had dreamed about having for years. There was a big price to pay for this though and back before the Christmas of 2014 I started to notice breakage. Very quickly in the space of 6 months my hair was so damaged random chunks were snapping and breaking. Parts of my hair were so dry and brittle they were uncontrollable and to be honest I was fed up of dying it every 3-4weeks.

So I went more natural and toned it down. I have ended up with highlighted hair now which I do think looks quite nice. However the more of my natural colour that comes through, the more I actually think, ‘hey that doesn’t look too bad’. It has been on my mind for a while now the idea od going natural. There are too key negatives to having highlights. 1 is having to give up almost a whole Saturday to get my hair done every three months is kind of annoying and 2 it also it leaves a huge dent in my purse. It is pretty much £100 a go with a trim and highlights and to be honest with you it is money I don’t want to spend and time I don’t want to use.

So I thought what the heck, let’s do it. Let’s let my hair grow and the highlights hopefully should grow out naturally and eventually I should be left with a full head of natural healthy hair that needs no maintaining other than haircuts. I like that ombre effect where it fades from dark to blonde and I think it would be a nice slow process of getting used to having darker hair too as I would imagine it will be a few years until most of it is gone.

Images found on pintrest - NOT MY OWN!
I may need to have some more highlights or low lights to blend it in depending on how it grows out but we shall see. So I am excited to be saving money and my time. I have to say I have been dying my hair since I was about 14 and I just don’t want to do it anymore. It is a really refreshing thought to think I do not need to fit having my hair done around what activities I am doing.

I think one of the reasons I was so set on blonde hair as I was so unhappy with what I wore when I was bigger due to lack of confidence. But now I can express myself through my style and I don’t feel the need to have bright glowing hair. All I want now is super long shiny healthy hair and I have to say brown hair is really growing on when I see girls with long glossy hair.

The only idea I have of what my natural colour will be!
Fingers crossed I don’t freak out in 3 months’ time and have the highlights put back in. However at least this was it won’t be hard to put it back to blonde unlike the time I dyed it all read haha!

I think I will document it on here and see how fast it grows too (the hairdresser cut it far too short last time and this makes me very sad) Anyhow that’s my plan and I am REALLY excited to see what my natural colour is and to watch it grow out.

The happy happy happy post

I just wanted to write an update. This Saturday will be 8 weeks in our new flat; this had probably been the biggest change and leap I have taken in my life so far.

So my new year’s resolution goals were:
Loving myself.
My confidence is non-existent. I still feel exactly as I did 2 years ago before I lost weight. I put myself down and hold myself back because I feel down about my appearance. I don’t like photos of myself because I look so much smaller in them than what I see in the mirror. And this is sad and not right and I need to work on this mentally. I want to just be happy…. I want to just feel like a million dollars every day and I know it will be hard because I got confidence boosts from losing weight. Now I need to find it within myself.

I am REALLY trying to work on this at the moment! Like seriously trying. I don’t want to constituently worry about people judging me, worry about what people think about me. I want to wear whatever makes me happy and MAKES ME FEEL AMAZING without giving a toss what others think. I know deep down that people probably aren’t laughing and when I wear a skirt that makes me nervous I am always amazed that no one stares and no one comments, so I realise I build this up massively in my head. I need to get away from that!

Working on my design work
I want to work on some new designs and get perhaps some more greetings card made up and sold. This is something I want to work on but there are a few bigger things I want to concentrate on this year and that I will have to save my money up for!

LIES, I haven’t done this and at the moment I am SO UN MOTIVATED…. Oh well there is always 2016 or I guess there is another 4+ months in the year.

Debt,
this is my next big one. I have paid off around £6,000 last year and a bit the year before. I have just over £3,000 to go and I already have about a quarter to towards this! Once we have paid all this off we will be on track to moving out, which is my next big thing.

Done and done again. Adjusting to a life without debt is weird. I have spent a year saving and saving and saving. I am so used to considering every purchase I make and making sure I can justify it and afford it. I am trying to relax now a bit but still be in control and sensible. It is finding a balance in-between the two extremes I’ve lived in.

Having my own home!
We have been working on moving out for the last few years and 2014 we were really focused. We can afford to move but I want to do it debt free so I am going to pay all my debt off and save enough money to pay for my deposit. I have started collecting bits in the sales (bought all my Christmas decorations haha priorities first huh?).

This is done and I am so pleased. This is what I really wanted to update on.

The freedom that has come with living on our own is amazing. I feel so relaxed and content and I really look forward to spending time at home. I was worried how easy or hard it would be to maintain and keep the flat clean and tidy. It has actually been surprisingly easier than I thought. There is part of me that is house proud now and I want to live in an environment that is neat and tidy and clean. I don’t want things to build up and become hordes of clutter like it did in Matt’s room.

I am enjoying having large spaces too, I love that fact we have a living space and a bedroom. I think I sleep better now as we lived and slept in Matt’s room. With no TV on in the background it makes falling asleep easier plus having a bed that isn’t falling apart and is supportive and comfortable.

It is nice to sit on a sofa too and enjoy the TV and my laptop! Rather than slumped in bed and weekends are really pleasant as I get up make breakfast and then go and live in the living room. Before I would get up make breakfast eat in bed, make lunch eat in bed and being stuck in that one room would become very suffocating at times and DAMN right boring.

Matt and I seem to be doing well together. There seems to be less everyday stress and we are relaxing more. He is doing more to help me with chores which is really nice and I just feel really happy and content at the moment.

I am so happy with the flat we picked. The price and location is great and the space inside the flat is amazing. Things like the fitted wardrobes are a massive added bonus to me! There is actually room to organise and sort my clothes now. No more keeping them in bags and boxes to keep mold out!

I am very much hoping we will be there for a good few years if not more! I can't wait for the autumn now. I have loads planned for October including my first holiday (time off) in the new flat. Although I had a week off to move I need a break to just rest, no stress just enjoy myself. I plan to go to Nottingham and spend a weekend with Laura. Then Harry Potter studios on my Birthday. Later in the month I am seeing Jack off Jill, going to Tulley's farm and then the NFL football tickets I bought Matt for his birthday! So loads of things to look forward too.

I cannot wait to have my first Christmas in my flat too. I am so excited to decorate and just make the place mine!

2015 is defiantly the year for me, life is actually going to plan at the moment and I hope that the rest of the year gets even better.

Two more things I am very pleased with that I will add to the end of this post!

I also am VERY happy to say I finally have a new computer. Mine died again when we moved and I thought it was a problem with the charger. I tested it last week with another charger and alas it won't charge anymore. It is so beat up and broken that Matt SO KINDLY offered to put money towards me getting a new one. I am exceptionally lucky to have him and I am really happy to have a full functioning laptop again! I am hoping to update this blog a bit more now!

I was also exceptionally chuffed regarding an old coat that’s actually probably still a new coat.

2 years ago I bought a new coat that I saw on the hanger and just fell in love with it! It was gorgeous and had loads and loads of fur and the lining with silky and had a bow print. I actually wrote about it briefly here It ended up being a real kafuffle as I bought a 12 but it was far too small, I then exchanged but they had none in store so I ordered it online, and they sent me tracksuit bottoms??? By the time I sent them back they sold out online and it took a drive to Kingston one Sunday for me to get a 14. I however again didn’t wear it much as it was still too tight across my back and the whole thing was rather fitted.

I’ve almost gotten rid of it quite a few times, but I thought I’d have a look this year and I tried it on this weekend and HEY IT NOW FITS and it fits well. I am so pleased as I love it and that why I’ve been unable to get rid of it.

Anyway super excited to wear it again! I am hoping however that the summer actually comes and we don’t go straight into winter!

I hope your week is full of amazing things.

Half way round the year!

So here we are in the 6 Month. Half way through the year and all I can say is BLOODY HELL where has it gone?

So I actually set some goals this year and I want to see how I was doing with them.

  1. Loving myself.
  2. Working on my design work
  3. Debt,
  4. Having my own home!
1.
I am getting there. I am having a hard time especially going from winter to summer. Getting my legs back out again is hard for me but I will get there I am determined.

2.
Yeah so this hasn't happened yet, I have been quite busy and not overaly in the mood. When things have settled down in the next month hopefully I can look at some Halloween designs.

3.
DONE and dusted. All gone and it is staying that way. I even have savings, I am really proud of this and I want to keep it this way.

4.
FINALLY we got there. Deposit is down, and we move tomorrow. I am so excited and SO SO ready for this.

I am going to add a new one which is SAVE SAVE SAVE and the HOLIDAY. I want to get away on a proper holiday this year and I am determined to do it!

So my new 5. Is save for a Holiday.

This year is defiantly the year of change I was right with that statement at the beginning of the year. I am hoping the second half of the year will be the year that I can really enjoy myself!

Have a great weekend... I know I will its moving DAY TOMORROW YAAY!

Moving house update...none boo!

So not much has moved forward after the excitement of putting down a holding deposit!

I was hoping things would go quickly and we would have some more news, but alas it has been a slow process. I chased on Thursday and had to give my manager a nudge to send off my reference, but on the plus side I found out that we have passed the credit checks and everything else. So now it is full steam ahead and just waiting for a date.

We started to pack at the weekend. We have so much to sort out its silly! We wanted to make a start as soon as possible so we weren't going to be in a mad crazy rush at the end. I am glad we did. I would say we have done a quarter maybe a third of the room. We have packed 3 big boxes and I have 3 bin bags of soft toys. We however got rid of 4 bags of soft toys and about 4-5 bin bags of rubbish and a huge box of CD’s and unwanted DVD’s. It is a nice feeling to just get rid of so much stuff and so much clutter.

This coming weekend is the bank holiday. I plan on taking my Grandma to Brighton for a day out on Saturday. After that we are off work until Thursday, we have a gig to go to on the Wednesday but Sunday-Tuesday I think we could get LOADS of stuff sorted and start storing some boxes at my Grandma’s. I am hoping to get a MASSIVE chunk done this weekend. I would say we have thrown away more than we kept which is definitely a good start.

With the crazy rush of trying to get the flat and the excitement it has all died down now, things are much calmer and I have some more time to think. I am still so excited though and I cannot wait!

I keep picturing all the little things I will do to the place and how my things will look in there and stupid things like getting out of bed at the weekend and having breakfast and making a cup of coffee! I am hoping maybe only another 4- 5 weeks fingers crossed.

Moving on to some general ramblings from the week,
We went and saw Mad Max Fury Road on Saturday after an exhausted day of cleaning and lugging boxes here there and everywhere… All I will say is WOWZA that film was EPIC, with a capital E! I haven’t seen the originals, but now I really really want to! Perhaps tomorrow night as I am about to pass out today. I need a good snooze.

I also had a little accident surprise surprise. I slipped in the rain on Thursday down a ramp that leads to the underground car park at my work. I fell down it and then skidded down it. These are my war wounds!

Ouch is all i have to say! I took pictures because I think they look impressive and when you hurt yourself that much, DAMN IT you want it to look impressive :p
I had a pretty annoying limp on Friday and to be honest 5 days later it is still pretty sore!

Oh and on a good news note I got a pay rise last week. It wasn't amazing but it is better than nothing and I will get a little extra back pay this month which is PERFECT timing a little extra cash for moving out!

As I said above we have some time off this weekend and me and Matt are off to see Astronautalis live. I am pretty excited, we haven't been to a gig together for years and I saw Astronautalis live supporting Tegan and Sara years and years ago! I've been waiting for him to come and play in the UK for ages. We are going to head up to London (I will be boring and return something to Forever 21) and then we will go and maybe do a bit of shopping and the I have booked a table at Pizza Express (cause lets face it, I FREAKING LOVE PIZZA EXPRESS) and then we will walk across the road and go the gig :) So I am very much looking forward to that!

So roll on Friday and happy Tuesday all!
