Matt's birthday, A silent voice and Nottingham

Honestly this blog isn’t abandoned! I just haven’t had much to blog about recently, unless people want to read about me slobbing about in my pyjamas every weekend! It has been quiet recently, but I suppose this time of the year always is. Plus there is just over 7 weeks until my japan trip so I have mostly just been saving my pennies for that.

This last week though I have been out and had some fun. Last weekend I booked the Monday and Tuesday off of work to spend some time with Matt for this birthday. We really didn’t do very much other than the cinema and a trip to Wing Yip. I bought a LOT of panda biscuits for cheap cheap prices. (10 for £8.50 bargain) and yes I have eaten them all. Then Tuesday was his actual birthday and our 11 year anniversary. We went out with his Mum in the evening for dinner, but other than that it was super chilled and relaxed.

Then on Friday I headed up to Nottingham again. I have been DESPERATELY trying to find places that were playing ‘A silent voice’ and they were playing it in Nottingham over the weekend so we decided to go and spend the weekend with Laura and Sam again.

I’ll start with the film because BY JINGO it was good. If you don’t know what it is then here is a little synopsis I have stolen from myanimelist.com
Ishida Shouya bullies a deaf girl, Nishimiya Shouko, to the point that she transfers to another school. As a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself with no friends to speak of and no plans for the future. This is the story of his path to redemption.’
It was a lot deeper and darker than I had originally thought which wasn’t a bad thing. It is really uncomfortable watching these children pick on this poor deaf girl (Nishimiya) and then to see how quickly the ring leader (Ishida) friends’ (who were also bullying Nishimiya) turned on him. He ended up becoming the victim of bullying for his original behaviour and we flash forward to a boy planning on ending his own life who has been ostracised and spends his time alone to avoid being picked on himself.

We watch Ishida try and make peace with Nishmiya and also slowly make new friends even though there are quite a few bumps along the way. Everything kind of seems to be going well between the two but then we realise how much years of bullying has affected Nishmiya and Ishida ends up getting critically hurt in an attempt to save her.

It was a really beautiful film and some points really hit home especially if you have ever dealt with bullying or social anxiety. There are some really funny bits in it too and the progression of character development throughout the film feels really natural and right. The art was gorgeous and as was the music. It pulls at the heart strings all the way through the film and although has an open ending it leaves you feeling warm and content.

I would really love to see it again but alas I am having trouble finding somewhere that is showing it that I can get to easily. However if I can I will defiantly see it!

Forcing Laura to also take selfies with me....... no one seems to like having their picture taken!

So we saw that on Saturday afternoon and started the morning off with a trip to a farmers market for brownies and then Primark (according to Laura to get it out of the way lol). Then after the film we did plenty more shopping. There is a book shop called Page 45 that sells some really unusual yaoi manga which I ended up picking up 3 books from. Oops…… and also we picked up far too much manga in forbidden planet because the one in Nottingham has an epic manga section.

Other than the tones of manga I ended up buying, I also got a new shirt and some birthday gifts for Laura. We then headed to Annie’s as we always do for burgers and I got a big breakfast one again and it tasted amazing. Laura had big plans for us to go for drinks after but we were so tired we headed home and watched weird documentaries all night, and I feel a sleep half way through as I was so exhausted.

Sunday was pretty lazy with a really late breakfast (I made some pastry things I made for Matt’s birthday breakfast which involves bacon, cheese and scrambled egg in puff pastry) and I then drove back into Nottingham for Matt to pick up a coat he has seen after all the shops had shut. The afternoon was spent watching TV and doing Laura’s hair and having a good chat and eating doughnuts! I had such a lovely weekend and was gutted when we had to come home.

But I am home now and back to work. The next big thing to look forward to will be Japan now! Hopefully as the weather improves I will get out a bit more too, I hope so I feel like I really need some sunshine!

No Man's Land and day trip to London

This autumn I have a lot of things planned. October is going to be crazy busy with the NFL, DST, Nottingham, The Libertine and MCM every weekend is jam packed with things to do! It is exciting times and also scary times for my bank account eep.

However to kick it all off I had booked tickets to see No Man's Land up in London. A chance to see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen perform together live was too good an opportunity to miss out on so we booked tickets back at the beginning of the year.

I had to get a travel card and as they aren't particularly cheap from where I live now I decided to make a whole day of it. We got up early and headed to Toby Carvey to have a breakfast buffet. Afterwards we headed up to London and went straight to Camden to have a good look around. As soon as we got there the heavens opened up and didn't stop all day!

I haven't been up there in a while and I wanted to have a look as there is lots of clothes and trinkets that I love in Camden. Matt got himself a lovely new Pokemon T-Shirt and I got a cardigan ridiculously cheap in the sale in Collectif.

Afterwards we went straight to the theater for the 2:30pm showing. Ian McKellen was running half an hour late but it was lovely to spend time inside a beautiful venue and also to be out of the rain and wind. The show was amazing and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between the two actors was as good as I imagined it to be. I was left with lots of questions and a bit 'bamboozled' by the play at the end, but from what I can tell you take away what you want from it.

The characters were great and they were really funny too. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it if you have chance to see it while it is on in London. The whole play is just 4 people in one room but its still feels like a grand play and is interesting thought provoking all the way through.

Afterwards we headed to the nerd haven the Forbidden Planet Mega Store, where we took full advantage of their 3 for 2 on their manga and I also got a Captain Jack Harkeness POP Funko too!

Mini Haul
We finished the evening with a Wagamamas and got home around 10pm. I have a lovely day despite the pouring rain and wind.

I am really looking forward to lots of days out in October, things have been pretty quiet over the summer so I can't wait for lots more trips and days out with Matt!

Wednesday Blues!

So I have discovered blog lovin! Its great I can add all my favourite blogs in one place! I’m sure people may be going PFFT get with the times Toria!!!

So I am stuck at work again and I am really struggling at the moment. I am doing a project that I really really hate doing and then when mixed with the fact that it will be a week tomorrow until I leave makes it even harder to pull my finger out my ass and do what I have to do. I am also falling asleep today.

We went to gym again yesterday; we had a meeting with the trainer who set us up last week! He seemed exceptionally pleased with what I’ve done so far, which gave me a massive confidence boost, which in turn got me to work twice as hard last night. That made me feel good until today when I’m now feeling INSANELY tired. I could just dooze off right here in my chair to be perfectly honest with you. Oh well let’s keep focused! Or a least try only 1 and a half hours left!

I’m super excited for Friday as me and Matt will be heading home, but then we will be heading up to Nottingham :) I’m really looking forward to that. I can’t wait to spend some actual time with Laura rather than a hour or two when she happens to be down and of course it will be lovely to Sammi too!

So I added some more bits on to my Christmas list. These are from Topshop, the whole lot was more than I would spend on myself but when it’s a gift I think you are meant to get the things you wouldn’t usually buy! I can’t wait to match! It goes soo well with my fluffy coat and matches really nicely with my navy blue parka!

This week/weekend has shocked me with the exceptionally low prices! Everyone and everywhere had some sort of sale, and some were massive sales like 50% off. As I am being good I didn’t give into temptation well just one thing and I blame Matt. We popped to Tesco on Saturday to get the food shopping. I had planned on doubling my club cards but it didn’t work and Matt insisted I got it anyhoo. It’s just the loveliest dress and it had 25% off and I also got some adorable PJ’s

Oh that reminds me too I invested in this at Primark. One thing I do love about Primark is they make some really unusual things and they start some big trends like the onesie! Matt said it was hideous and he calls it a raggedy rug because he claims it looks like a carpet but I highly disagree! It is seriously the most comfortable thing I have ever worn and its long enough I can wear it without PJ bottoms on! I LOVE IT and I’m obsessed at the thought of getting into after work.

To round this off I will just say WOOO CHRISTMAS. We are now officially into December Christmas has begun and I have started opening my Advent Calendar! I cannot wait for Christmas and a bit of time off I am exhausted I truly am.

And in the spirit of things as I DO EVERY YEAR I pulled out my red Barry M glitter nail polish and this will pretty much be what my nails will look like for the next 4 weeks :D I even got daring and added some hand drawn snowflakes on, don’t think it looked too bad!

I have consumed a few mince pies, I have my Christmas songs on in the car and tonight I plan to start to wrap some gifts! Christmas is VERY MUCH in the air for me!

Happy New Year one and all.

Ok so I am back at work. I haven’t updated in a while but I thought I would do my last post of 2012 as it is News Year’s Eve. I have no plans really, I am going to get a fairly early night with Matt tonight so we can get up early and go into London to go to the zoo and to Forbidden Planet. It should be great. We never really fancy doing anything NYE so we thought we would enjoy our day off together tomorrow as we are both at work today and I’m already tired and it’s only midday. I am starving hungry already bah. So we are planning on getting in and having a takeaway and curling up in bed. Then I will get ready fairly early tomorrow and venture into the London and go to the Zoo as the weather is meant to be nice. Sunny but cold and the best part NO BLOODY RAIN! Hurray.

I was so excited to have time off over Christmas, I ended up having Christmas Eve off so I had 9 days in a row off and it went so bloody quickly, I am not impressed. It was nice though even though it didn’t feel like Christmas at all. I guess all my life so far has involved me being in education over Christmas, so it was the first year that I didn’t break up for the Christmas holidays, instead I worked all the way up until the 21st booo.

So anyway Saturday I cleaned ALL BLOODY DAY! And then went out for Chinese food with Matt and his Dad and that was lovely. Then Sunday was pub day with Gem and we exchanged gifts and Monday I went to see Laura for the afternoon.

And then of course it was Christmas day. I was up pretty early and unwrapped gifts at Matt’s and then unwrapped gifts at home.

I got some pretty cool stuff for Christmas.

UNICORN

Farsacpe Boxset
Star Trek Boxset
Rocketdog boots
Penguin hat and necklace
Benefit make up
Nail Varnish
Mustachio monster
Tiny Labbit
Panda Watch
Rocket Dog Boots

And lots of cool stuffs!

I also got a amazon gift cards and a Wallis one. I decided to invest in some black and white simple Vans and the weather at the moment isn't full on boot weather but it isn't dolly shoe weather either.

I wanted so Vans that were Lo Pro because I have a horrible habit of tripping up a lot on the ones with very thick soles and they feel a bit chunky on my feet! Anyway my friend has the plain black and white spot ones and I saw these and feel in LOVE!

They have stars on them and I LOVE things with star patterns, makes me very happeth!
I am really hoping they MIGHT come today as I ordered them on Friday but its doubtful with the bank holiday and that. But if they do I AM WEARING THEM TO THE ZOO TOMORROW. I might even be sneaking and see if i could get away with wearing them to work bwahah.

After doing all the family mumbojumbo, I went out to Brighton with Matt on Thursday. We were worried with all this awful weather it would be a wash out but it turned out to be a lovely day. The sun even came out for us and it stayed dry! I went to the sales a couple of times last week but it was all a bit crappy. In Brighton however there was a fox necklace that was £27 down to £15 so I snapped that up.

It's such a cute little necklace I love it! and it's really bright vibrant colours so it stands out against my clothes which i like!

We had a LOVELY lunch too at our favorite pub and then went shopping and the Pier was open so we were happy and Matt won me an Omnom toy to go with my other one at home and I ACTUALLY managed to win him an android toy. I was very excited about winning it!

So I haven't managed to get any bargains really in the shops, but I did find my vans cheap and some Iron Fist sun glasses reduced from £25 to £6 BARGAIN and they are really cute too. I love the colours a lot!
So i get to finish at 4:30 today yaay! which is just over an hour away..... (I started writing this at midday and its taken me a while ahah)

Today has not been productive. But hey ho!
