One skirt to rule them all.

New Topshop Denim skirt and H&M wolf shirt

I just LOVE a denim skirt, the versatility that comes with it. You pick it up and put it on and then pretty much pick ANY top out of your wardrobe. It requires very little planning and thinking and they just look good!

I had one that I loved, for years and years. Actually I had been through a few of the same ones I loved them so much! There was my Dorothy Perkins ones and my River Island ones!

Two of my favourite ones that I wore to death.

But alas, the love of my Dorothy Perkins one has had to come to an end. It got to the point where it just wouldn’t stay up, the belts got smaller and smaller and the skirt started to look warped, gathered up and just stupid.

6 stone lighter and my skirt just doesn't fit how it used to!

That was pretty much 2 years ago and I haven’t found a suitable replacement for it and it is something that has hugely annoyed me. I have had quite a few in the last 2 years… ones were too gathered around the hips and ‘poofed’ out others sat too low and were uncomfortable. I had ones that were exceptionally flimsy and just looked like cotton not denim and others they were really thick denim that again they were uncomfortable.

Back at the beginning of the year I got my first Topshop denim skirt, which I briefly wrote about here. I would like to start by saying that over the years I never imagined I would fit into a Topshop denim skirt! So that was a big bonus, but as it is an A-line style with no ‘flippy-ness’ to it I prefer to wear it with tights and bigger baggy jumpers and hoodys, so I was uncomfortable in it for the summer.

I really wanted a light weight, comfy one that was more A-line with the ‘flippy-ness’ I required so I could wear it high waist-ed with shirts tucked in but it would be smooth enough to wear shirts over the top of it too. Sooo not asking for too much. I did actually consider making my own.

I then felt like I struck gold and found one on Topshop’s website again and with the success of the skirt at the beginning of the year I wanted to give it a go! Of course it was sold out everywhere and I discovered it stock at Guildford (days before I had, had my first visit to Guildford you can see here, but didn't look in Topshop that day so I was KICKING myself). I didn't know if I wanted a 14 or 16 as the reviews said it came up big so after work Thursday I whizzed over and tried them on. I was right to try both as the 16 was way too big on me, but the 14 fits like a dream.

Tucked in is a winner!

I hear other fashion bloggers referring to the ‘Unicorn’ the un-findable piece and I feel like this is mine and I have finally found it.

It is denim look, so its actually a stretchy material which means it is super comfy and light for the summer with lots of room to move freely. The length is good too, I find it comfortable and it sits at a nice point on my waist.

The poppers are good too, I had tried on some with the buttons and I found them heavy and annoying, and HEY IT HAS POCKETS what more could you ask for.

I paired it with my new New Look shoes and this beautiful Wolf top from H&M I picked up last week.

Untucked is also a winner!

So I am pretty happy with it and I can’t wait to stop worrying and feeling uncomfortable in my skirts!

A lot of what I used to wear and stick to were all 'safe zone items' for me. Certain things I have left behind such as; lots of black items, hoodys, really baggy items and layers, and these old styles I now avoid as they do not make me feel good. But my Denim Skirts have been a huge part of ‘me’ for so long now and although I have changed the way I dress I am glad I can bring this forward with me in a new way :)

2015 update 1 month in!

2015 update as this is the year when things will be amazing!

Well so far 2015 has been a bit bumpy. I think January is always a hard month, it is dark and cold. The year ahead seems never ending and a pressure to save money and lose weight after Christmas is all a bit over whelming. I have not lost my Christmas weight which annoys me.! However I have managed to save a considerable amount of money. When I get paid in 3 weeks I should be able to pay off my big credit card and also my smaller one. That leaves me with a tiny over draft which is very manageable. This is pretty exciting, but at the same time I have all this money just sitting in a savings account and I know that in a months’ time it will be gone and I will have nothing to show for it. The idea of moving out has always been far away that it’s always been a conversation of, well in the future blah blah blah! But now it’s soo close (5 months tops) and things are moving we are actually buying house things and starting to plan, but it also feels TOO far away!

In April I will start saving money, and that money will be used to rent myself a flat and not plugged into debt. I know it is the right thing to do and wait as this time next year when I am debt free and hopefully have some savings and also have my own flat I will be so pleased I did it. Otherwise I could be sitting here with my own flat, no savings and still having debt hanging over my head!

So after I have moved out I know want to have my FIRST proper holiday with Matt. I have decided I like the look of Menorca. I spent the weekend obsessing and picking a nice hotel. The likely hood that we be able to afford this is October is probably pretty low, but it has cheered me up having another plan and something else to really look forward to. I just cannot wait to have my money to spend in the present and not pushing it into things I bought years ago and most likely was a waste of money.

So this week is my EATING WELL starting point (although I say this every week haha) I have just over a month until Matt’s birthday and I want to get back down to what I was before Christmas. It is only 5-6 lbs so it is very doable!

I have treated myself last week to a few new items which I thought I would write about on here too!
What annoys me at the moment too is how people chirp is and go ‘OOH WHY ARE YOU BUYING THAT YOU ARE SAVING’…. 1. It’s not your business how I spend my money even if I am saving. 2. I actually got all of these bits with my Christmas money and vouchers…..

I got this LOVELY shirt in the sale in New Look with my voucher. I love the fit and the colour and it’s so comfy, I just love checked shirts when it is a bit warmer.

I then got this skirt from Topshop. My old denim skirt had to retired when I dropped 2-3 skirt sizes alas. So I am very happy to finally find one I really like and is partial all year round! It is a little tighter than what I would usually wear but I love it, a new style to get used to!

And this is a top I had seen in Debenhams, I fell in love with it and I’m not even really sure why. It looks comfy and I adore the colours in it! It thought it would be great for spring, cooler evenings in summer and autumn so something I plan to get a lot of wear out of!

So that is how 2015 is going. Money wise… VERY good and new goals to hit this year! I really hope I can achieve all this, this year!

My weird relationship with coats.

I’m going to write a more cheery post today. The funeral is booked for 16th September so a week on Tuesday. I feel very much like I am in a limbo type place. Not really sad, because I haven’t said goodbye yet but not quite right as I know the time to say goodbye is coming.

But I thought I would do a little post update anyhow. So I wanted to share my new coat. I have a real issue with coats. Last year I bought 3 D:

THREE coats it was ridiculous. The problem was is I rushed in a bought one that didn’t fit that great; I then rushed in again and bought another one I wasn’t 100% sure about. These were mistakes as, as I have learnt I should only buy something if I am 110% happy with it and how it fits. I then bought one from ASOS in January, again I was never 110% sure although this fitted well the material ended up being very uncomfortable, there was also no fur on the hood which is something I really wanted and it was probably a little too big as when I tried it on again this year it I am swimming in it.

Actually it was technically 4 coats ahah, but I got a really fancy Hell Bunny coat for my birthday but this is a special fancy going out coat which I plan on making sure I wear much more this winter!

Anyhow, I was going to try and make do but then I saw one in topshop and just fell in love. I decided to get it as a birthday gift. This was back at the beginning on August and as it was selling out in a size 14 quite quickly from what I saw I picked one up and popped it on my credit card and it has sat in my room for now just in case I spied a better one when the autumn winter clothes were realised.

I popped to pick up a dress I had ordered from new look for the funeral and on my way in a spied another coat that caught my attention. I thought no no I won’t try this one I have mine, its much nicer but then I though ahh maybe I’ll have a quick look. I put it on and the fit was just perfect, it made me realise that perhaps the topshop one may not fit as well as I would of liked. It zips up rather than big buttons at the top so I have more breathing room in it and an option to unzip it slightly I get too hot. The fur is very impressive (although not as nice as the topshop coat). I decided to buy it take it home and compared it. On first glance I thought no, no the topshop one is much much nicer, and I still feel this way on first look when it’s on a hanger, but then when I put it on the New Look one just looked so much nicer. It hangs nicely much more fitted and complementing, it’s longer and the zip feature is great much better and more comfortable than buttons that only do up round my neck. Much as I adore the topshop one I thought, no, I have to go with the more comfortable one because that really does make or break it for me, and I DO NOT want to end up not wearing it again. The other thing that played at the back of my head was that it wouldn’t look so great with hoodys and more casual looks whereas this other one I think would go nicely with dresses and hoodys and even my PJ bottoms when I go to tesco :p

SO the first coat is going back. I feel like this is meant to be as I only have a few more days left to return the first one!

Anyway that was very long winded but I am very excited to wear my coat now, and I’m welcoming the cooler weather (after my birthday as I can’t have it until then)
Excuse the terrible photos!

New Look Coat

And then I also found a little gem on Saturday. We popped into Redhil so I could get a vest top. Walking past a shop called Street Talk I spied a dress in the window. Now street talk was where I bought my angry grunger stuff when I was a teenager so I was surprised to be buying something so delicate and lovely in there. I went in found it and tried it on. Little disappoint there was only a S/M but thought it looked like quite a large small medium so I tried it on and it fitted like a glove. It very quickly came home with me! I know what I will be wearing when I go the weekend before France. As you can see it is covered in little birds and palm trees!

Anyway coat caffle done with, I am now very happy and I am also very glad it is Friday!

Wednesday Blues!

So I have discovered blog lovin! Its great I can add all my favourite blogs in one place! I’m sure people may be going PFFT get with the times Toria!!!

So I am stuck at work again and I am really struggling at the moment. I am doing a project that I really really hate doing and then when mixed with the fact that it will be a week tomorrow until I leave makes it even harder to pull my finger out my ass and do what I have to do. I am also falling asleep today.

We went to gym again yesterday; we had a meeting with the trainer who set us up last week! He seemed exceptionally pleased with what I’ve done so far, which gave me a massive confidence boost, which in turn got me to work twice as hard last night. That made me feel good until today when I’m now feeling INSANELY tired. I could just dooze off right here in my chair to be perfectly honest with you. Oh well let’s keep focused! Or a least try only 1 and a half hours left!

I’m super excited for Friday as me and Matt will be heading home, but then we will be heading up to Nottingham :) I’m really looking forward to that. I can’t wait to spend some actual time with Laura rather than a hour or two when she happens to be down and of course it will be lovely to Sammi too!

So I added some more bits on to my Christmas list. These are from Topshop, the whole lot was more than I would spend on myself but when it’s a gift I think you are meant to get the things you wouldn’t usually buy! I can’t wait to match! It goes soo well with my fluffy coat and matches really nicely with my navy blue parka!

This week/weekend has shocked me with the exceptionally low prices! Everyone and everywhere had some sort of sale, and some were massive sales like 50% off. As I am being good I didn’t give into temptation well just one thing and I blame Matt. We popped to Tesco on Saturday to get the food shopping. I had planned on doubling my club cards but it didn’t work and Matt insisted I got it anyhoo. It’s just the loveliest dress and it had 25% off and I also got some adorable PJ’s

Oh that reminds me too I invested in this at Primark. One thing I do love about Primark is they make some really unusual things and they start some big trends like the onesie! Matt said it was hideous and he calls it a raggedy rug because he claims it looks like a carpet but I highly disagree! It is seriously the most comfortable thing I have ever worn and its long enough I can wear it without PJ bottoms on! I LOVE IT and I’m obsessed at the thought of getting into after work.

To round this off I will just say WOOO CHRISTMAS. We are now officially into December Christmas has begun and I have started opening my Advent Calendar! I cannot wait for Christmas and a bit of time off I am exhausted I truly am.

And in the spirit of things as I DO EVERY YEAR I pulled out my red Barry M glitter nail polish and this will pretty much be what my nails will look like for the next 4 weeks :D I even got daring and added some hand drawn snowflakes on, don’t think it looked too bad!

I have consumed a few mince pies, I have my Christmas songs on in the car and tonight I plan to start to wrap some gifts! Christmas is VERY MUCH in the air for me!

Ma coat related rant.

I am really quite annoyed tbh. That coat from ASOS that I fell In love with has been nothing but a disappointment. The lining has again split. For some bizarre reason it also makes my left arm unbearably painful that when I have been out I have been forced to take the bloody thing off. Seriously my arms today after wearing all day yesterday and my left shoulder are killing me. I guess it just doesn’t fit right which is really bloody annoying.

It really is such a shame. I really really loved it! D:

I have found one in TopShop, but I may leave it and just wear my one from last year as I’m not 100% sure about the TopShop one and if I leave it a month or few weeks they will probably put it in the sale!
Plus the TopShop one is £75 and is more of a jacket than a coat. Poooo. Why the first year that I have money can I not find a coat that I truly love! Boo hiss.

The one from last year though is pretty new tbh. I only wore it a handful of times. It was £85 and I got it in the sale for £36 and I have vouchers as it was just after Christmas. Its lovely and really practical. Machine washable (I think) long, warm, has ties inside and a MASSIVE HOOD! Really everything you would want and need in a coat. FUCK IT I will just use that!

The Asos one is defiantly going back. I am so disappointed in it boo hisss. I kept saying I WILL LOSE 2 STONE AND IT WILL FIT. But it might not as its tight on my back and arms! And what if I don’t lose weight esp with Christmas coming up! Not a great time of the year to lose 2 stone.

Now my silly coat related rant is over it is now FRIDAY WOOO! And the weekend should be a calm one, I have very little planned which is the way I like it now a days! Just a bit of pub times and some cleaning! WOOO exciting!.

However there are still 20 minutes left of today that I have to get through that I DON’T WANT TO DO UGH!

On a plus side I have work Monday then a half day on Tuesday where I will be seeing Mumford and Sons WOOOOO and THEN AND THEN TWO WHOLE DAYS OFF and the Christmas party on the Thursday! Then it will be so SO close to Christmas I could poop with excitement!

Anyhoo I has to pee now and I should do some work that I am paid to do. My concentration on a Friday afternoon is so shit!

Onwards and upwards BRING ON THE WEEKEND!

BEAUTIFUL sunny day in Brighton

Ok so me and the sister (Sarah) went to Brighton today. I had planned on doing very little to nothing to relax and recover from the working week, buts Sarah talked me into to going to Brighton and it wa actually relaxing! We just played on the pier, had a milkshake and went on a water ride. I won a Panda bear woooo! Then we chilled out on the beach and paddled in the sea which was freezing and painful on the pebbles. Sarah also had a sketch thing done of us which she failed to look at the camera in any of the photos its was very funny and my hair is so light it didn't draw the top of my head ehehe.

So tomorrow Cat is coming here around 10:15ish and we are heading to Blue Water to meet John Barrowman and his sister at a TorchWood book signing weeeeeeeeeee! It's exciting!

I also picked up this really nice purple hoody. Its a really nice colour! Ended up going to TopMan as the colours they did were soooo much nicer than TopShop and they came up muh longer too!! WOOO. Might get a Grey one too! Maybe.

I managed to give myself a panic attack at work on Friday too. That was super embarrassing D:
I thought I was going to be sick a I've had a tummy ache for the last few days.... and I have a phobia since I was a kid of being sick and I just freaked out a little :(

I hope it doesn't make people think i'm stooopid. :( anyhooo I feel so silly now!

Anyhoo that is all for today soo byes xx
