Ok so this is a little rant that I have felt for a while.
I refuse now to shop at large chained stores. Example... H&M, New Look, Topshop etc... I would be lying if I said I would NEVER buy from them again, things like leggings and vest tops are a must have, but I will never order from them online again. For starters I hate HATE HATE, that you can not buy personal unique stuff from there. If I do ever buy anything from these stores I am always in fear I will walk down the street and come face to face with someone wear the same clothes as me! This is why I tend to look else where for cool things and clothes.
I have over the last few years bought stuff from small retailers and private sellers. Every time I order from them I am made to feel like a valid customer who is generally appreciated.
I have order a fair amount of jewellery and bits and pieces off of Etsy, and in particular Punky Pins. I have a few stories to tell from these experiences.
I bought a moustache necklace from a seller on Etsy. It came from another country and arrived very quickly and the postage was very low... I also ordered a Geek necklace too. The quality was outstanding for the price. I believe it was around £6 for the moustache necklace (when tatty divine was selling them for around £25). Within a few days of reviving the items I stepped on the moustache one and snapped it in half. I tried to repair it with no luck. My boyfriend then gave me the money for a new one as I was rather upset and I e-mailed her telling her I had broke it and could I please order another one. THEN when the new one came there was a free gift (moustache ring) in it. I was so touched that she would send me a free gift! Her messages back and fourth were also lovely too.

My next example is Punk Pins. They make super cute jewellery but I never ordered anything because they were so cheap. I thought there must be a reason they were so cheap, however my friends birthday came around and they had something that was PERFECT for her on it. SO I took my chances and ordered a necklace. I was AMAZED at the quality and size of the item, it was made of really thick plastic, had been printed beautifully on it and just looked great.I was so impressed I have since ordered a few things from them.
(Penguin Necklace I got as a gift at Christmas this year)
At Christmas I ordered this AMAZING reindeer and Santa necklace. Tatty Divine had something similar (in size and style) from around £60. I paid a mere £15ish from the punky pins one. Much to my horror the head of one of the reindeer broke off. I e-mailed them and said that it had broken and sent it out in the post first thing one morning. They e-mailed me back within a hour, said they were very sorry to hear that it had broken and there was no need to send the item back just send them a photo of the necklace and they would ship me out a new one. Within a few days I had brand new necklace, their customer service was amazing and the quality of the items are also outstanding. All the things I have ordered as well come in a beautiful box packaged so nicely so they are perfect for giving as a gift.
All these extra touches makes me feel valued as a customer and brightens my day!

Sick for cute is another great website. I have ordered a few things from them and they always come so nicely hand packaged and wrapped up. The postage is exceptionally low considering it's coming from the USA. I also usually revive a 10%-20% voucher off my next order.

Many of the people I have ordered from on Etsy send me free gifts in what I order. Although they are small they really brighten my day. Often I have thank you notes put in there and the stuff they send is always well priced, well packaged and the postage prices are good!
I have recently ordered rather too many dress, all Hell Bunny. I used the following sellers :-

Most of them have offered free postage and I have revived all of the dresses within 3 days of ordering them. With one of them I got a free necklace in there too. The prices have been very good for a dress that isn't mainstream and available in every shop and high street.
Then I move on to high street/big stores.
I have ordered many things from places. The prices for things are usually stupid. £30+ for a dress that is low quality and everyone else will probably own. Postage is usually at least £4. I don't understand why a smaller seller can ship things for free, yet a massive international company charges me almost £5 (sometimes MORE THAN WHAT I'M BUYING) for postage. It then takes up to 2 weeks sometimes to receive the bloody thing. Usually its at least a week wait. And usually because of the ridiculous sizing in the high street stores it ends up being sent back or taken back to store. Forever 21 annoyed me recently. MADE ME ORDER A 3XL in the plus size. (I do not even wear plus size clothes in the UK). I paid about £4 for postage. It took a week to arrive. I didn't really like it, it felt cheap and kinda boring so I sent it back. BUT HEY GUESS WHAT, it's not free to send it back I had to pay a further £2 to ship it back. Why if it cost me £1.70something to ship second class, do these companies what such an insane amount for postage.
There is no feeling that I am valued. I don't feel special and I don't like paying over the odds for something that every person out there will probably end up owning.
Anyway. That's my rant over. I will continue to give my moolah to small companies that make decent quality products and make me feel valued as a customer because these sort of things brighten my day!
